We Secure and Extend the Life of the Built World

We develop a technology that allows engineers and asset owners the ability to see inside concrete structures: instantly, accurately, and without a single drill hole.

How it started

Birdsview was founded by Olav Skogen and Simen Husøy, two engineering students at Norwegian University of Science and Technology. They identified a problem without a clear solution: wooden utility poles in the power grid were rotting from the inside, invisible to inspectors until they failed. Together, they built a sensor-based detection system that solved this problem and has been used by one of Norway’s largest grid operators.

As the expertise of Birdsview’s team expanded, we saw a familiar pattern emerge in concrete — the world’s second most used material and the backbone of every major structure ever built. The construction industry still relied on inspection methods that were slow, destructive, or unreliable.

Finally, in 2025, we launched our first concrete product and developed a technology platform powered by Full Waveform Inversion, ready-made sensors, and AI-driven analysis.

Our mission

We believe the future is in making better use of the infrastructure we already have. Our goal is to revolutionize concrete inspection and maintenance with advanced, non-invasive technology that enables smarter decisions for our clients and a more sustainable future.

What we stand for?

01

Real Impact

We cut risk, cost, and carbon

Our customers report 72–97% time saved, 67–92% cost saved, and carbon footprint reductions of up to 90% when concrete can be reused rather than demolished. We measure our impact in real numbers, on real structures.

02

Millimetre Accuracy

Precision is key

Our technology is built on Full Waveform Inversion — a method originally developed to map what lies miles beneath the ocean floor in the oil and gas industry. We adapted it for the built world, and the result is world-leading accuracy up to millimetre on reinforcement detection.

03

User-friendliness

What we do is complex, but simple for the customer

Our customers receive a clear, actionable digital report they can share, act on, and integrate with BIM models. We’ve automated what used to take weeks of expert interpretation.

04

Built For What Matters

Infrastructure is the foundation of everything

Bridges, tunnels, dams, hospitals, and airports are not just assets. This is the foundation of how societies function, and we take that seriously.
